Collaborate on music in REAPER without leaving REAPER
Take docks a panel inside REAPER so you can pull a collaborator's stems onto your timeline, push your rough back to the project, and read their notes, all without alt-tabbing to a browser. It installs through ReaPack in a few clicks.
Pull stems onto your timeline at timecode
Click Import next to a stem in the Take panel and it downloads the original file and drops it on a new track at the timecode it was uploaded with. No renaming tracks, no lining up waveforms by ear.
Push your rough or a track back to the project
Select a track and click Render and upload selected track, and Take renders it and uploads it as a new stem. Render the master and it becomes the project's new rough, in one click.
Record voice memos without leaving the session
Hit record in the Take panel and it captures from your input onto a throwaway track placed past the end of your project, so nothing on your timeline gets touched. Stop, and it posts as a voice comment, pinned to your edit cursor if you check that box.
Read and post comments at the edit cursor
The Comments section lists the project's discussion. Post a note at your edit cursor and it pins to that timecode on the rough, or leave the box unchecked for a project-level note. Jump to comment moves your edit cursor there, and Add marker drops a REAPER project marker.
Install it through ReaPack
- In REAPER, open Extensions, then ReaPack, then Import repositories.
- Paste this URL: https://takeaudio.com/reaper/index.xml
- Install Take.lua from the Take category.
- Install the free ReaImGui extension too, if you don't already have it (it's in the default ReaTeam repo in ReaPack).
- Run Take.lua from the Actions list, or bind it to a shortcut, and click Connect to Take to sign in.

What it costs
The web app is free: uploads, text comments, 5GB of storage. The REAPER panel is part of the $8 a month paid plan, and the project owner is the one who pays. Once they upgrade, everyone invited to that project uses the REAPER integration too, so a band needs exactly one paying member.

They don't need it. The web app plays the current rough, lists every stem, and lets them drop timestamped comments straight from a browser, on any DAW they use.

How do I install Take for REAPER?
Add the ReaPack repository at https://takeaudio.com/reaper/index.xml, install Take.lua, and make sure the ReaImGui extension is installed too. Run it from the Actions list and click Connect to Take.
Does the REAPER panel require an extension?
Yes, ReaImGui. It's free and installs through ReaPack the same way Take does.
Can I pull a collaborator's stem straight onto my timeline?
